Regional Guide
Ancient Lycia · Mediterranean coast · Timeless beauty
The Region
Nestled between rugged limestone mountains and the shimmering Mediterranean, Kalkan is one of Turkey's most authentic coastal towns. Originally a small fishing village, it has evolved into a calm holiday destination while preserving its genuine character.
The old town — whitewashed houses, bougainvillea-draped terraces and cobblestone lanes — cascades down to a picturesque harbour. Rooftop restaurants, boutique shops and local cafés create a genuinely unhurried atmosphere.
The region was once part of ancient Lycia — Patara, Letoon and Xanthos are all within easy reach. Villa Ray sits in the Kördere neighbourhood, just above town with sweeping sea views.
Güneş & Deniz
The Kalkan coastline offers remarkable variety — from hidden coves to long sandy beaches beside ancient ruins. All reachable by dolmuş, boat or a short drive.
A stunning cove at the foot of a dramatic gorge. Brilliant turquoise water, golden sand and towering limestone walls make this one of Turkey's most photographed beaches. Steps lead down from the coastal road.
An extraordinary 18 km of uninterrupted sand backed by ancient dunes — one of the longest beaches in the Mediterranean. Protected nesting ground for loggerhead turtles, beside the ruins of ancient Patara.
The small pebble beach in the harbour is perfect for a quick dip. Surrounded by restaurants and cafés, the water is clear and calm. Locals often swim from the jetty. Easy walking distance from town.
The iconic turquoise lagoon that appears on every Turkey postcard. Also one of the world's premier paragliding destinations — watching colourful parachutes descend from Babadağ mountain is unforgettable.
Daily trips from Kalkan harbour visit coves including Limanağzı, Soğuksu and Balıkçılar. Crystal-clear water perfect for snorkelling and swimming.
A remote paradise reached by a steep forest path or water taxi from Göcek. Wild pebble beach, waterfalls and eco-retreats — a favourite with hikers and those seeking solitude.
